How to find your unique life purpose

I reconnected with an old friend recently. Someone that I hadn’t seen since high school. We were very close in high school even though we were exact opposites. She had her whole life planned out. What university she would go to, what career she would have. How she’d work her way up the ladder to eventually open her own business. She even knew she’d have two dogs, no kids, and a BMW. It was astounding to me because, other than college. I had no idea where I’d go or what I’d do with my life.

So, when we ran into each other recently and caught up. It was so inspiring. Of course, it was great to see an old friend. But I was even more amazed when she told me all about her life – her small accounting firm. Her two dogs, amazing husband, no kids, and her even BMW. She hadn’t changed her plan at all. And why should she? She knew EXACTLY what she wanted in life, and she went for it. I was so happy for her!

Everyone has a unique purpose in life. Some find their purpose while they’re young and still in school. Others don’t see their purpose in life until they’re in their seventies.

Where are you on this journey? Do you know what you were born to do? Or, are you still floating through life, trying to find your calling?

I hear all the time from people that are not happy with their lives. Some hate their jobs. Some are sad that they’re still single. Others are in unhappy relationships.

I always tell them the same thing. It might not be easy to hear. But I don’t sugarcoat the truth. That doesn’t help anyone.

If you’re not happy: Change. If you don’t want to change, figure out how to be satisfied.

You know that phrase “same old thinking, same old results.” Well, there you go.

If you don’t like your job, take action! Action speaks louder than suffering. Feel like you’re just moving from one job to another while not being happy in any of them? Or, you’re stuck in the same place for years bored out of your mind?

Here’s what I want you to do. For the next week, make two lists. On one list, write down every task that you procrastinate doing. On the second list, write down everything that you like doing throughout the week.

At the end of the week, review your lists. You now know your likes and dislikes. Rewrite your resume, so everyone knows what you’re an all-star at and start sending it out.

Your next task is to look for a job or opportunity that optimizes what makes you happy. Maybe you’ll find it’s a step down the ladder. That’s OK. Or, perhaps you’ll find you need to focus on your own business? Or find a volunteer opportunity a few hours a week to explore different avenues and build skills.

Make 2020 the year that you’ll be proud of yourself for all of your accomplishments!  Because you took action. You are here to live an extraordinary life. It’s YOUR LIFE and no one else’s. Claim it! And if you don’t feel like your living your life purpose. Please go find it!

To your success!

Love,

Kelley
