As we approach Thanksgiving in the US, I’m starting to reflect on what I’m thankful for. 2020 has been one hell of a year. It’s blindsided us all, but that does not mean that we don’t all have something to be thankful for. No matter where you are, what you’re going through, or what kind of a future you see for yourself, you DO have something to be thankful for.
Personally, I feel like I have lived many lives within this one life. And the simplest things are what bring me the greatest JOY. Did you know that JOY is a higher frequency than LOVE? For me, I love to swim and going to the YMCA and doing my laps in the warm pool is the cats’ meow. When you’re thankful for the small things in life. It keeps you present. These days I think it’s important to take life one day at time and one moment at a time. Because things can change on a dime. Hey that rhymes.
I was reminded of this as I spoke with a friend recently. She was planning her wedding…for the second time. She lost her job in COVID. Bills were piling up, and she had no idea how the wedding – even the tiny version of what she originally planned for – would be paid for. As she told me all of this, I could feel the weight she had on her. And yet, she said the oddest thing. She said, “Can you imagine what life would be like if all this never happened? I’d never have realized how lucky I am.” My first thought was, “lucky FOR WHAT?!” Then I realized. She saw her amazing fiancé. She saw their good health. She saw their bright future together and an intimate wedding with the ones she loved most. She saw all of her blessings. And I realized that we should all be so lucky.
Here’s what I’m grateful for this year:
- My health. Being able to get up every day and Feel Good. YAY!
- A business that I love that challenges me and allows my creativity to grow.
- An incredible family that supports me whether I’m at my best or worst.
Now, I challenge you: What are you grateful for? Tell me in the comments. I always read everything, and I would love to hear what GOOD came from this crazy year. That rhymes too. I get extra points. And for those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving. Wherever you hail from, Happy Thanksgiving!
“Enjoy the little things in life. For one day you may look back and realize that they were the big things.”
— Robert Brault
I am grateful that you are here with me sharing this moment. And please be kind to yourself. You deserve all the happiness that you can create. Keep it simple and you’ll find those treasures. I promise you. Be Blessed. No matter what curveballs life throws your way. Keep on thriving. And may the Good in this world find its way toward you.
“Your life is right now! It’s not later! It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here. It’s not when you’ve moved into the new house. It’s not when you get the better job. Your life is right now. It will always be right now. You might as well decide to start enjoying your life right now, because it’s not ever going to get better than right now—until it gets better right now!”

I am grateful for the quality at-home family time that the pandemic has brought. I started a new job with a new baby when the pandemic hit, which allowed me to begin my new job working from home. I’ve had the opportunity to be home, watching my kids grow, watching my garden grow, and getting around to house projects with my husband, who has had the amazing opportunity to be a stay at home dad through the pandemic. We both typically drive one hour to work (one way) each day, where the children would have been in childcare for 8 hour days all week. What a blessing to be a family unit at home together right now. Thank you Kelley, for reminding us to be here now, and reflect on our gratitude of the present moment. I am learning to be more like my name each day.
I am thankful this year for the fact my daughter finally decided to treat and get help for her mental.illness.
I am grateful that I have had a lot of time to develop a close relationship with my toddler grandson. ❤
