I was on sabbatical for most of 2021. I have worked since I was a teenager. So, it’s been weird for me to take so much time for myself. Stepping back from work gave me a new perspective on my life. And a whole new meaning for your wealth is in your health. It doesn’t matter if you’re 20 or 100 years old. The better you feel the better your life is. The social distancing and the isolation goes against the fact that we’re social creatures. And this has caused a huge amount of depression and loneliness.

Did you know that loneliness causes inflammation and heart disease? Being lonely lowers your immune system. That’s why it’s really important to check in with yourself.  Because loneliness is caused by a disconnect from your soul. The BIGGEST relationship of your life is with you. Make sure you are validating yourself. Because you doing the best can with what you got. Only you can fix the disconnect. Be your own best friend. What did you love to do as a child? Why not pick up that old hobby that you used to love to do.

What works for me is to be outdoors. Did you know that we’re only spending less than five minutes outside each day? This includes children. That’s scary. Man, when I was a kid, I spent my days outside. I was never inside unless it was a blizzard. This is why fresh air and exercise are so important for your state of mind. I like doing Pilates and walking. After the age of 30, muscle mass decreases approximately 3–8% per decade. That’s why it’s so important to do weight training. With Pilates, it’s endless pushups. Pilates was invented to help injured dancers. It works your core yet it’s gentle on your body. What are the cures for loneliness?

Stay connected to your online community and your local community. Do Zoom calls with your peeps. Be old-fashioned and pick up the phone. I have reconnected with my best friend from grade school. It’s really fun to be with someone who grew up with me. Go out and talk with strangers. I do this spontaneously when it feels right. It’s fun to meet new people and be helpful to others. Take a class online or in person. The biggest remedy for loneliness is to TELL YOUR STORY.  You are not alone. Alone means All One. We are UNITED in our loneliness in FIGHTING a common enemy the pandemic. 

Why not use this time to focus on healing your life. And setting your intention for what you want. What would do if money wasn’t a concern for you? What do you love and value now? So many people have quit their jobs because they want more out of life. Reflection gives you an opportunity to gain clarity. Who you are NOW.

Like me, many of you are deeply empathic and spiritual. And find the chaos and negativity in the world too much. Honor your sensitivity. That doesn’t mean you’re not STRONG. You feel things deeply. It’s said that the meek shall inherit the earth. Let’s hurry up with that Universe because we’re ready to inherit. Dawn is breaking as I write this and the sky is filled with pink clouds. There is so much beauty in nature.

No truer words have been said, “the body is the messenger.” It’s always the stuff you don’t see that gets you. The Black Swans are the known unknowns. Pushing through my exhaustion only made me more tired. And until I got injured did I slow down. I was still in denial when I realized I wasn’t healing. That’s why we need to pay attention to the signs. Your body is the messenger.

Listen to the signs. If you’re feeling lonely or cut off. Reach out to other people because they too are feeling it. SHARE YOUR STORY it’s the medicine. It’s not what knocks you down in life. It’s not what makes you sick. It’s getting back up. BEING RESILIENT. The human body is incredibly versatile. It has the power to heal you and your life. But we have to be listening. And we need to love ourselves more than anything we think is a priority over our own health and wellbeing.  We are all in this fight together. We need you here. YOU ARE LOVED! You are not alone. We are all feeling this even people in relationships. They can feel alone too but that’s another story.

    I was wondering where you were. I’m glad you are feeling better and yes I have been trying to take better care of myself too. But seem to be losing friends and loved ones along with it. It seems they don’t care about my plight. I forgive them all.
