How the stars dictate your health

These are stressful times for all of us. We’re all reacting in different ways. Some people are finding that they’re far less productive. Others are trying their best to see the silver lining of more time at home. Liquor sales are through the roof. I do love watching the funny videos people are making to keep their spirits up. Some of them are so funny. I have a giant belly laugh that feels so good. And when people come outside their houses and make noise together in their neighborhood. My heart opens and it makes me smile. 

During a recent trip to the grocery store, I witnessed some abhorrent behavior by another shopper. There was a shipment of disinfecting wipes that a clerk just put out. As a shopper put the last container in her shopping cart, another woman turned the corner, hoping to get some. She was only moments too late, and the wipes had vanished from the shelf. 

Instead of walking by gracefully, she started screaming. Her screaming went on for what seemed like forever while everyone around her stood there dumbfounded. And while yelling, she actually lunged forward and stole a container out of someone else’s shopping cart. She then fled to the register.  The person who was using that cart just stood there shocked. We all did. This experience was new to me. Because for years I have done a majority of my shopping online. And I never had to drive miles and miles to buy staples such as Kleenex, disinfectant wipes, and toilet paper. But now I can spend hours driving around visiting many stores trying to buy things for my home and it can get old fast – testing my patience. When I do find what I am looking for, I feel like a great huntress in the wild. It gives me a strange sense of accomplishment. To think a month ago I could do it all in minutes with the touch of keystroke. 

Although this woman was genuinely nasty at that moment, my heart went out to her. These are stressful times. It can bring out the worst behavior in anybody. We want to stay calm while we carry on with our lives as best we can. The media bombards us with daily negativity. That is not helpful. It’s enough to make you feel sick watching it. Yes, we do need to know what’s going on but we don’t need large doses of it. I have had to limit my intake of the news for my health and well-being. Many of our normal outlets to relieve stress are gone. No more gyms. Limited access to parks. No beach. No meeting a friend for coffee to share and hang out.   

We want to do our best to look after ourselves so that we don’t need a doctor’s visit when there are so many people in serious medical need. I’m trying to strengthen myself and make sure that I’m taking care of my whole self – my body, mind, and spirit connection. And, I try to get creative in my space. Right now, I have the sounds of nature playing in the background as I write this blog. This helps be indoors for most of the day.  Here is the YouTube video link that I have been listening to. Like a lot of you, during this pandemic, I do have extra time. Sure, I’m as busy as ever making videos, engaging with students, and writing blogs. With my trips out of the home generally limited, I’ve managed to carve out a little extra time every day. I’ve dedicated that time to keep myself healthy. Maintaining health – at any time – goes far beyond vitamins and healthy eating. 

I am talking about my Health and Well-Being Report that I read on a regular basis. One of the reasons I like it so much is because it tells me where I can excel in my health and make solid improvements. In addition, it also shows me where I may be falling short in my self-care. This is not a good thing.

I don’t often get sick physically, but I do tend to be sensitive to my surroundings. I also don’t manage stress very well. My report reflects this and re-reading it sometimes serves as the reminder I need to take better care of myself.  

I also know that I am likely to isolate myself when I’m stressed. Fighting the need to isolate seems almost ironic considering our current social distancing guidelines. But, feeling isolated never did anyone any good, even now. Yes, I do love my alone time. And it is my go-to place when I am stressed. But, not this much alone time! And, while I can’t join my friends at a restaurant for dinner, I can reach out in other ways. I’ve already held a few Zoom happy hours. My family and I are playing virtual Pictionary regularly, as well. These little things help me cope with the craziness all around. 

While I can’t completely disengage from the news, I can limit it. I’ve also started a 30-day Yoga Challenge. It helps me find a few minutes of calm where I focus on nothing but breathing and moving my body. And the Yoga exercises are helping me to build muscle and stay strong.   

It is so important to look after yourself spiritually, mentally, and physically. There is only one of YOU. Regardless of how many friends you have or how big or close your family is, NO ONE will take care of you the way YOU can. No one. Because who knows you better than you do? If you’re not feeling good, nothing else truly matters because your wealth is in your health. The better you feel the more you can be proactive and not reactive. We do have a social contract, and we are in this life together. 

We are being tested no doubt about it. And not everyone will practice the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And what I want for myself, I want for everyone. 

Taking care of myself has been made a little bit easier by the Health and Wellbeing report. And I encourage anyone that is feeling overwhelmed to get a head start on your healthy journey. By taking advantage of the insight this report offers you. It’s time to practice Extreme Self-Care. Be safe. Be well. Be calm.

Now is the time to THRIVE!

Before you laugh, hear me out. 

I believe in the power of mindset – in the power of attraction. Believe it, and you will achieve it. This includes milestones you want to tackle, such as careers and wealth, but also feelings, like happiness and well-being. 

When I first started my career, I took a job that was not anywhere near what I studied in college. I figured it was short-term. It paid the bills while I looked for my dream job. I went to work and did my job. I wasn’t happy there, and it showed. I’d come home every night frustrated and annoyed by my day’s work, then pour my energy into looking for a new job. I sent resume after resume and heard nothing. I got more and more frustrated and upset as time went on. 

Then, one day, a coworker I had confided in said something interesting. “Why would anyone hire such a miserable worker?” 

I replied, “Well, how would a new job even know I was so unhappy here?” 

Then he said something magical. “You get from the universe what you give.”

I’m not going to lie. I wasn’t immediately convinced, and my attitude at my current job didn’t change overnight. But, as I thought through what he said to me, I realized he was right. Slowly, I did change without even realizing it. I can’t say I was ever happy at that job, but I came to accept it was where I was meant to be at the time. I found a place of peace, and I’m sure my attitude reflected it. 

I continued sending resumes out for my dream job. And very soon after that shift, I got two offers. It was the universe’s way of rewarding me for putting out positive energy. It’s a lesson I’ll never forget, I remember even more fervently in difficult times. 

The world is in an unprecedented situation right now. We’re all filled with uncertainty. We are scared (at least I am.) We’re worried about our futures and how long the COVID-19 scare will last. Weeks? Months? The rest of the year? No one knows. I look to the stars every month to see what’s in store for myself and all of you, but some things can’t be answered with exacting degrees.

Here’s what I do know. A lot of you have extra time right now. You might be working from home – saving you commute time. You might have less work, be temporarily out of work, or you might even be laid off. 

If you have extra time, use it! Put your positive energy into the world. If you have a hobby you’ve always wanted to try, do it now! If you’ve got a reading list a mile long, grab the first book, and start reading. If you’re running a business, THIS IS YOUR TIME. Work on those YouTube videos. Get that website going. Put together that free gift for your mailing list. 

I also realize that not everyone has extra time right now. If you’re working in healthcare, a grocery store, or one of the many other essential services…Bless You! We need you now more than ever. Know that you are where the universe needs you to be, fulfilling our greatest needs. The world can’t thank you enough.  

This craziness will eventually end. Things go back to a new normal.  You will have traveled a journey to be proud of. Let it feed your soul. No matter what your next project or endeavor is in life, know that you have done what so many could not have. And you now have that power to channel into the future you design.

We design our own futures. With every day, with every action, and with every thought.

How to stress less and sleep better

Have you ever noticed that on nearly every sitcom, the entire show revolves around a miscommunication? It usually starts out that someone is afraid to tell someone something. Before you know it, there’s a whole hilarious situation that came out of a lack of information. In the end, everyone inevitably gathers and has a good laugh.

I don’t watch a lot of TV. It drives me nuts to see people skirt around issues. And I can’t stand to watch people dance around what they want to say. And let me tell you, the repercussions of poor communication are rarely hilarious. 

In the real world, what do you get from holding back or hiding how you feel? Nothing good comes from hiding information. Maybe you do it because you’re trying to protect someone’s feelings. Perhaps you’re afraid to let people down. Maybe you dislike conflict so much that you’d rather keep your real feelings to yourself. Or, for some people, they were punished as children when they spoke their truth. So, they learned it’s better to lie than to be honest.

But the truth is, you’re really not protecting anyone – not even yourself. Because holding your feelings back creates a loss of identity. You can wake up one day and not know who you really are and what you want. Pleasing others can lead to a loss of your own soul. And nothing in this world is worth losing your soul. It’s all you have to take with you when you transition into Spirit. It’s the BEST part of you! Your soul is your inner child. The part of you that is immortal and timeless. The outer form ages but the soul (the inner child) doesn’t. This is good news!

Next time something doesn’t feel right, stop. Take a deep breath and think about what you would want to hear. Would you want someone to tell you what they think you want to hear? Or would you rather hear the truth? Of course, you want the TRUTH! Sometimes the truth is even a little bit uncomfortable. It’s better than being lied to or led to believe something else, though, right?

From this moment forward, you want to commit yourself to the following:

  • Say no when you’re overcommitted. 
  • Ask for help when you need it. 
  • Speak the plain – and sometimes ugly – truth, so people know what’s in your heart.
  • And, for goodness sakes, tell the people you love how you feel!

Now, let’s talk about that ugly truth. I’m not saying you should walk down the street and tell random people you think their outfit is hideous. There’s no good in that. And, it’s not your business anyway.

You’re not out to hurt people. You’re out to live true to yourself. And, ultimately, you want to let others love you – the REAL YOU. They can’t love you, if they don’t know you. 

Speak your truth. Others may not always agree. They may not always heed your advice or requests. But, I guarantee your relationships will be healthier. And your life will be far LESS stressful because you’re not driving around with so much junk in your trunk.

Follow these four guidelines every day. I promise you’ll go to sleep each night feeling much more at ease with your own soul. And you’ll sleep better and wake up feeling empowered. Because you know who your true friends are. And who is really on your team. And you’re LOVING YOU. This too is good news.

Your wish is my command…

I recently spoke to my dear followers and students about the importance of being impeccable with your word and always speaking with integrity. It’s important to only to say what you mean and mean what you say. You want to use the power of your words in the direction of TRUTH and LOVE. This includes in your own direction. I was recently told by my coach that my mission is to teach people how to love themselves properly. You can say that you love yourself, but when you neglect your self-care – that is work too hard and don’t get enough rest, or if you tolerate another’s disrespectful behavior – that is not proper self-love.

Everything you say has a vibration and a ripple effect. It’s made more significant by the energy and emotion you put behind it. You may have heard of the “I Am” principle. 

Every time you use the words “I Am.” you’re quoting the name of God. This is your Highest Self. Every time you say, “I Am,” you are creating your life and yourself.

You are truly extraordinary and capable of creating anything you want in your life. 

I often get asked questions about what can be manifested: 

“Can I manifest my soulmate?” 

“Can I manifest a new car?”

“Can I manifest a better job with double the income?” 

The answer is always, “Yes!” Yes, to everything! 

It does require that you are ready for what you ask for. That you are in vibrational alignment with it. And, you always want to say what you want aloud and as if you already have it.

“Thank you, universe, for the soulmate now in my life.”

“Thank you, universe, for my beautiful new car.” 

“Thank you, universe, for doubling my income.” 

See where I am going with this? When you say it this way, you are letting the universe know that you ready to receive what your heart desires. You’re always co-creating with the universe and manifesting your thoughts and beliefs into reality. This is why you want to be purposeful and intentional.

This can cause some people a lot of anxiety. They think that if they stop being positive for a minute or have a bad day, that they’ll start manifesting bad or difficult situations and circumstances into their lives. The universe doesn’t work like that. Merely having a negative thought won’t bring negative circumstances. It’s when you believe in those negative thoughts and put energy behind them, that those negative circumstances can manifest. If you have a negative thought and start to feel bad, choose a new thought. Take a walk. Distract yourself with something else. Don’t feed the beast.

Your subconscious mind creates from your inner beliefs. It works like a Genie in the bottle. Your wish is my command! Your subconscious mind believes what you program into it. That’s why mantras work. But, it’s not enough to say positive things. You have to follow through with action. You can do this by being kind to yourself.

Simply saying you believe something won’t make it manifest. Unless you genuinely have faith, that you deserve it and expect it with excitement and gratitude. When you program your conscious mind to be in a place of love. “I Am Love.” You’ll manifest love. You’ll attract love to you. And this empowers you to spread your LIGHT and warmth to others. This starts with loving you.  

You know the old saying, as you sew, sew shall you reap. That’s the law of attraction! 

It can be hard to wrap your mind around accumulating massive wealth or having the freedom to do the things you want.  Because you have yet to reach that level in your financial life.  

Back with your Genie in the bottle. You can program your subconscious mind to accept your new truths. This is where “I Am” affirmations can come in handy. Once you say a statement often. Your subconscious mind goes to work. It will accept them as truth. And your manifestations will begin to arrive quickly and with ease. This also works great to say what you desire right before you go to sleep. This way you can sleep on it and let your subconscious do the work. When you awake, write down what comes to mind. Think positive thoughts about what you want. Speak with purpose. And speak with clarity to ensure that your life is always filled with joy and love. 

While brief negative thoughts won’t instantly manifest bad things into your life, you want to avoid speaking against yourself.  It’s normal to have a bad day. And, it’s totally okay to feel those emotions when they do come up. But try not to linger on them. Love you more.

And this holds true for what you say about others too. You’re actually saying and wishing for yourself. The reason is that your subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between you speaking about yourself or someone else. It takes everything in as truth about YOU. This is why there is no such thing as No. In an attraction-based universe where we live. Because everything means YES come to me.

This is why gratitude and forgiveness practices are significant. It’s not so much that you must forgive someone who has hurt you, but that you forgive another for your own peace of mind. It’s not to let your guard down. You forgive yourself for having to go through the painful experience. This way you will let go of the negative emotions that difficult situations create because they can lower your vibration and block your abundance. And abundance is your birthright. Thank you, universe, for the abundance that is mine. 

You are always creating with the universe. To use your gifts and share your light is to create consciously with God. It is your spiritual power. You were put on this planet for this! There is literally nothing you can’t have, do, or be. And you want to be intentional.

Be your biggest fan

I got out of the corporate world years ago. There were many reasons why I wanted to work for myself.  I can focus on what work interests me the most. My pay isn’t dictated by salary grades and company earnings. I can set my schedule however it suits me. What’s not to love?! But the main reason I left was that I wanted to be surrounded by people that were HAPPY or at least seeking to better themselves. Day in and day out, I was going to work with people – and let’s face it – mostly women who wanted to complain about everything and gossip nonstop. “Did you hear what so-and-so said at the meeting?” and “Can you believe he did that?” 

Every day I left the office exhausted by other people’s problems. And, when I say problems, I don’t mean “what so-and-so did.” I mean all the petty people that are more interested in what others do, and all the while they’re doing NOTHING productive themselves. Talk about hypocrites.

When you focus on other people, you put the blame everywhere but yourself. And none of us are blameless. No one in this world is perfect, and you know what?! Perfect is boring anyway. Next time you have the urge to start airing someone else’s business, remember that: PERFECT IS BORING. Save your energy and focus on the positive. Positive thoughts and words will raise your vibration. The truth is you make the most negative karma by what comes out of your mouth. Negativity will always bring you down. Spending your energy for one moment thinking ill of someone else is like volunteering to be burdened by irrelevant problems. Who needs other people’s crap? Let them deal with it themselves. Focus on you. Love you. Heal you. Be your own best friend. Be your BIGGEST FAN. 

Think of how much extra time you’ll have, if you pledge to focus on yourself and let other people and their problems fall by the wayside. Remember to BE KIND to yourself as well, though. Just as you will no longer speak ill of others, you can no longer speak ill of yourself.

No more putdowns about your weight or your hair. No more sarcastic comments about your weaknesses. And no regrets, please. Live for today. Just positive vibes. You can do this if you are present. I’ve run into so many people over the years that are their own worst enemy. Just think what you could accomplish if you were your BIGGEST FAN instead of your biggest enemy? Celebrate what you do well. Celebrate the effort. Don’t beat yourself up at what you struggle at. Not everyone can do everything well, and – I’m going to repeat it – PERFECT IS BORING! You’re not perfect, and you’re not boring. You’ve got unique talents that need nurturing. There is only one of you. You are not replaceable. What would you be doing if you were ten times bolder? What is that dream in your heart? Does it whisper to your soul? 

Start celebrating what you do well (and forget what you don’t). And I promise your confidence will SOAR. What would be the first thing on your list to accomplish, if you had the courage to take on anything? The sky’s the limit! Would you learn a new skill? Start a new business? Go back to school? Begin a new love relationship?
