How to find your unique life purpose

I reconnected with an old friend recently. Someone that I hadn’t seen since high school. We were very close in high school even though we were exact opposites. She had her whole life planned out. What university she would go to, what career she would have. How she’d work her way up the ladder to eventually open her own business. She even knew she’d have two dogs, no kids, and a BMW. It was astounding to me because, other than college. I had no idea where I’d go or what I’d do with my life.

So, when we ran into each other recently and caught up. It was so inspiring. Of course, it was great to see an old friend. But I was even more amazed when she told me all about her life – her small accounting firm. Her two dogs, amazing husband, no kids, and her even BMW. She hadn’t changed her plan at all. And why should she? She knew EXACTLY what she wanted in life, and she went for it. I was so happy for her!

Everyone has a unique purpose in life. Some find their purpose while they’re young and still in school. Others don’t see their purpose in life until they’re in their seventies.

Where are you on this journey? Do you know what you were born to do? Or, are you still floating through life, trying to find your calling?

I hear all the time from people that are not happy with their lives. Some hate their jobs. Some are sad that they’re still single. Others are in unhappy relationships.

I always tell them the same thing. It might not be easy to hear. But I don’t sugarcoat the truth. That doesn’t help anyone.

If you’re not happy: Change. If you don’t want to change, figure out how to be satisfied.

You know that phrase “same old thinking, same old results.” Well, there you go.

If you don’t like your job, take action! Action speaks louder than suffering. Feel like you’re just moving from one job to another while not being happy in any of them? Or, you’re stuck in the same place for years bored out of your mind?

Here’s what I want you to do. For the next week, make two lists. On one list, write down every task that you procrastinate doing. On the second list, write down everything that you like doing throughout the week.

At the end of the week, review your lists. You now know your likes and dislikes. Rewrite your resume, so everyone knows what you’re an all-star at and start sending it out.

Your next task is to look for a job or opportunity that optimizes what makes you happy. Maybe you’ll find it’s a step down the ladder. That’s OK. Or, perhaps you’ll find you need to focus on your own business? Or find a volunteer opportunity a few hours a week to explore different avenues and build skills.

Make 2020 the year that you’ll be proud of yourself for all of your accomplishments!  Because you took action. You are here to live an extraordinary life. It’s YOUR LIFE and no one else’s. Claim it! And if you don’t feel like your living your life purpose. Please go find it!

To your success!

Love,

Kelley

What are you thankful for?

In my last blog, I talked about starting 2020 by reflecting on 2019. I hope you looked over the events of the past year.  If you haven’t yet, there’s no time like the present. Think through all aspects of your life. Think about everything that happened – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

There are two reasons to reflect on the past:

For one, it’s a good practice to give some honest thought about how you can do better. Life is about growing and rising to new challenges. It’s what keeps us young at heart. It also keeps us from getting bored and stagnate.

The second reason is about being happy with where you are right now. Yes, you CAN be both happy with your current life and seeking to improve it.

It’s all about mindset. Being THANKFUL will feed your soul. It’ll keep you nourished when you have a bad day or a bad week. The contrast is there to help clarify what you want more of in your life.

So, tell me, as you reflect on 2019, what are you thankful for?

You may want to keep a journal of what you’re thankful for. From the big stuff to the little, write it all down. It doesn’t matter if you journal it once a day or once a week. Take a few minutes on a regular basis to think about your blessings. Commit them to paper. I promise it will make a HUGE difference.

It will keep you focused on the positive – and the positive aspects of improvement. And draw to you the good things in life.

Here’s what I’m grateful for today:

  • My family and dear friends
  • A warm home that keeps the cold winter out
  • A wonderful coach that keeps me focused
  • Thriving YouTube channel
  • Coffee!
  • The person at the grocery store that let me go ahead with my one item

My list changes regularly. And I’m sure yours does too. Tell me in the comments what you’re thankful for right now! I would love to hear from you.  It’s a new day. It’s a new year. It’s a new decade. It’s a new You!

Love and Blessings,

My New Year’s Wish for You

Happy New Year and Decade! I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and were able to ring in the new year in the way you love.

My New Year’s plans included a festive time with friends and family on New Year’s Eve. But on New Year’s Day, I spent a few hours reflecting. This is a tradition for me. Here’s what I do:

I look through my planner for the past year and look at various meetings, events, and outings.

I take some time to reflect. I think about what went well. I also spend time thinking about what I could have done better. Honestly, I probably spend MORE time thinking about the things I could have done better.

It is in our “failures” that we learn the most. I don’t like the word failure. Failure is just another word for opportunity, right?

My next step is to commit to change. Then I MAKE A PLAN. Change never comes by dreaming about it. It comes from hard work and discipline

It doesn’t matter if you want to quit smoking, find a life partner, or expand your business. It all comes down to making a plan and executing. In fact, I can tell who will succeed and who will fail by how much discipline they have in working towards their goals.

A lot of people see discipline as a form of work – or even punishment! There is no magic pill for success. I’ve got no magic wand for my YouTube channel. BUT I can tell you this:

Being disciplined is the most freeing thing in the world.

Really! Working hard…really hard…means I’m meeting my goals. It means I’ve got the financial freedom that I can pay my bills, buy myself some beautiful things, and take care of those I love. And, I can do this all without going into a boring office. Or working on things that don’t matter to me.

See what I mean? Discipline gave me the ultimate freedom!

The next time you’re procrastinating, you want to ask yourself why. Chances are the task isn’t aligned with your true desire. Or maybe you’re just not seeing the connection.

Here’s my New Year’s wish for all of you: I wish you discipline. If you have that, everything else is just over the horizon!

To your success!

Love,

Kelley

And move in a new direction because it’s exactly what 2020 is asking of all of us. So JOIN ME and we’ll speak soon.

There is no spell to cast for success

I get asked all the time how to start a business. How to grow a business. How to become successful doing what you love. The truth is, there is no magic pill. There is no spell to be cast. I’ve got no secret weapons that I deployed to grow my channel, courses, and business.

You know what I do have? A passion for helping people, a desire to learn, and a whole lot of determination.

These are the traits that separate successful people from those that are still struggling. This is GOOD NEWS! It means that if you haven’t yet reached your goals. YOU CAN! Anybody can!

So, if you want to start or grow a business. You want to help people. Simple enough, right? You might want to help them clean their carpets. Or you might want to help them manage their finances. When you boil it down, it’s all the same. Helping people is your bottom line. No matter what your business.

Next, you have to know HOW to help them. Sure, you need to know how to clean carpets well. But you also need to know how to MARKET yourself. and how to buy the right equipment to do the job.

If no one knows you exist. you’re not helping them. If you show up and don’t have the right tools. You’re not helping them. Helping people isn’t just about solving their problems. Helping your customers is about being good at running your business.

Now comes the key.

You don’t want to look at marketing as a big, scary task. You want to look at it as finding your ideal client so you can HELP them. Don’t get bogged down trying to find the best cleaning machine. Don’t throw up your hands because you’re not good at mechanical stuff. It’s just another facet of helping your client. And you can handle it!

With this subtle mind shift, things get a lot less daunting. And a lot easier to manage. Try to see your product or service from the customers point of view. Frame your marketing in a way that speaks DIRECTLY to them.

The first question that people ask is, “What’s in it for me?” This is human nature. How are you going to help me? Are you going to solve my problem? Are you going to teach me something new? Are you going to make me laugh and see the lighter side of life? See where I am going with this? Walk a mile in the shoes of your ideal client. Empathy is a key ingredient to your marketing success. The market (your tribe) will tell you what they want from you. Your job is to listen to their feedback and then act upon it.

So, next time you’re not sure how to do something. Or what you need to do next. Do what I do: JUST DIVE IN! Take a few bites out of that elephant each day. And acknowledge your wins big or small each day.

Google is your friend! There are Facebook groups and message boards for every topic under the sun. There are local networking clubs. You can find YouTube videos on every subject you can think of. And some you would never have dreamed of! There are also training sites like Udemy and LinkedIn Learning.

Did you know there is a Facebook group dedicated to people who use Wix to blog? There’s another for running Google Ads. There’s one for dry cleaner owners, for massage therapists, and Etsy sellers. And for just about anything you can think of. And, most of them are free to join. If it’s free. it’s for me. One of my favorite sayings! These groups are filled with experts. Who are ready to share their knowledge about the industry and the lessons that they’ve learned along the way. This is good news! YAY!

The next time you don’t know how to do something. I challenge you to dig in and find out. Do the research work. Eliminate distractions from your life.  And master your craft. Become the best at what you do!

It doesn’t matter if it’s something big or just a little thing. Google it! Search it on YouTube! Reach out on a Facebook Group. Or find a message board that specializes in that topic.

Now, you do need to know some limits. For instance, if you know nothing about websites. You might want to hire a web developer. BUT once that website is built and you need a quick picture change? Google “updating a Wix picture” (or WordPress, or Shopify…) You’ll be amazed at the resources out there. Just waiting for you.

Your willingness to learn and your pure DETERMINATION to find out is what will separate you from the dreamers.

I promise, every time you learn something new. You’ll be super-proud of yourself. As you ought to be! This is how you grow fast and work smart.

Now, what have you been struggling with lately? Go research that RIGHT NOW!

How to stress less and sleep better

Have you ever noticed that on nearly every sitcom, the entire show revolves around a miscommunication? It usually starts out that someone is afraid to tell someone something. Before you know it, there’s a whole hilarious situation that came out of a lack of information. In the end, everyone inevitably gathers and has a good laugh.

I don’t watch a lot of TV. It drives me nuts to see people skirt around issues. And I can’t stand to watch people dance around what they want to say. And let me tell you, the repercussions of poor communication are rarely hilarious.

In the real world, what do you get from holding back or hiding how you feel? Nothing good comes from hiding information. Maybe you do it because you’re trying to protect someone’s feelings. Perhaps you’re afraid to let people down. Maybe you dislike conflict so much that you’d rather keep your real feelings to yourself. Or, for some people, they were punished as children when they spoke their truth. So, they learned it’s better to lie than to be honest.

But the truth is, you’re really not protecting anyone – not even yourself. Because holding your feelings back creates a loss of identity. You can wake up one day and not know who you really are and what you want. Pleasing others can lead to a loss of your own soul. And nothing in this world is worth losing your soul. It’s all you have to take with you when you transition into Spirit. It’s the BEST part of you! Your soul is your inner child. The part of you that is immortal and timeless. The outer form ages but the soul (the inner child) doesn’t. This is good news!

Next time something doesn’t feel right, stop. Take a deep breath and think about what you would want to hear. Would you want someone to tell you what they think you want to hear? Or would you rather hear the truth? Of course, you want the TRUTH! Sometimes the truth is even a little bit uncomfortable. It’s better than being lied to or led to believe something else, though, right?

From this moment forward, you want to commit yourself to the following:

  • Say no when you’re overcommitted.
  • Ask for help when you need it.
  • Speak the plain – and sometimes ugly – truth, so people know what’s in your heart.
  • And, for goodness sakes, tell the people you love how you feel!

Now, let’s talk about that ugly truth. I’m not saying you should walk down the street and tell random people you think their outfit is hideous. There’s no good in that. And, it’s not your business anyway.

You’re not out to hurt people. You’re out to live true to yourself. And, ultimately, you want to let others love you – the REAL YOU. They can’t love you, if they don’t know you.

Speak your truth. Others may not always agree. They may not always heed your advice or requests. But, I guarantee your relationships will be healthier. And your life will be far LESS stressful because you’re not driving around with so much junk in your trunk.

Follow these four guidelines every day. I promise you’ll go to sleep each night feeling much more at ease with your own soul. And you’ll sleep better and wake up feeling empowered. Because you know who your true friends are. And who is really on your team. And you’re LOVING YOU. This too is good news.

Now a quick question.

I’d love to learn more about you:

What is ONE thing that you’re trying (or dying) to improve in your work or life right now?

Comment here and let me know. I read every reply myself.

Love,
